Sometimes it’s not what you see!
It’s what you don’t see that counts!
Let’s face it. No matter how clean and cozy we try to make the kennels at Cheatham County Animal Control, shelter life can be stressful for animals. One stressor at our kennels in particular was the fact that dogs could see into adjacent kennels in the corners. There are gaps between the fencing, and some dogs get agitated when they see other dogs through those spaces. To address this issue, we got PVC pipes and zip locked them into every kennel corner, so that dogs couldn’t see their neighbors. This wasn’t exactly pretty, but we think it will be pretty effective in giving dogs the privacy they need and deserve. One day we hope to have a capital SCAMPaign to raise funds for a major kennel renovation, but for now smart solutions like this help lower stress and improve the quality of life for the dogs.
