Holy Adoption Event, Batman!

A community effort

Setting adopters up for success

Saturday September 4, 2021 may go down in history as the best one day adoption event in the history of Cheatham County Animal Control. With the kennels nearing capacity, and adoptions at the shelter painfully few and far between, a decision was made to take the animals where the people are! So off we went to Ashland City with adoptable dogs and cats. Boy Scout Troop 458 met us in the Tractor Supply parking lot and set up tents and provided water for the dogs, and cooked food for all the humans, sold popcorn and took donations. Others in the community made crafts including SCAMP mugs, bandanas, tote bags, and donated amazing cookies, and farm fresh eggs. All told, over $600 was collected that day! Better yet, 6 dogs and 3 cats were adopted, plus 2 more dogs were adopted at the shelter! Each dog went home with their correct training collar (a martingale, and a Good Dog Collar for the pullers out there) plus a leash. Was this a minor expense? Yes - but we all agreed this was the safest way to prevent dogs from leaving in loose collar that might not fit. Cost? SCAMP spent $200 in replacement collars and leashes. Joyful feeling at the end of the day? Priceless! SCAMP was honored to be part of this effort. Thanks to all who Made it PAWsible!
