A shy dog is saved

Staten was the last of the New York City puppies to come to the shelter. Like her siblings, Manhattan, Bronx, Queens and Brookly, she was living outside her whole young life. She was the shyest of the lot, and took an extra week just to round her up. Inside, she was scared and withdrawn. While some pups do just fine, and even thrive, in a good shelter environment, it was clear that little Staten was going to need more. She was lucky enough to have a foster family willing to open their home and hearts for her. Within days living in a home, she perked up, showing some spunk and a cute little tail wag. It was clear that Staten would be just fine. But to add to the joy, Staten’s new owner happened to be a friend of the foster, and it was love at first sight! Staten went from foster to her new family, and the only thing left to do for us was to arrange for her spay. SCAMP was all too happy to make this PAWSible, and Staten (now Lucy) is fixed and ready to take on the world!
