Parvo is here. Vaccinations save lives.

All 10 puppies tested positive for parvo.

Puppy vaccinations are essential to survival.

This is a blog we wish we didn’t have to write, but maybe we can help spread the message. The short story is that ten puppies were surrendered to the shelter because the owner was overwhelmed with two litters, and four puppies had already died. When one of our dedicated volunteers picked them up, she immediately saw that the puppies were unwell. She took the sickest one to the vet and she was diagnosed with parvovirus, a very contagious and often lethal illness for puppies. Unfortunately it was too late to save that pup, but the others were started on medications and thankfully a rescue was able to take them. SCAMP was there to pay that first bill. The message is clear: Puppies have a vaccination schedule that needs to be followed. This is not expensive and can be given by a vet or even at Tractor Supply. Parvo is a preventable illness. Vaccinations save lives.
