Smoke is a great example of a dog that came into the shelter system absolutely terrified, and to be honest looked a little scary too! Poor guy had no idea what was happening to him, first on his own as a stray, and then in an unfamiliar kennel. It took a few months to get him really settled and for him to feel secure. Patience paid off because Smoke proved himself to be a great, loving, smart boy, and it was obvious that he adored his human from the start! SCAMP wanted to make sure that Smoke had every advantage going to his new home, so we sent him home with our biggest most durable kennel at the shelter, and we were happy to purchase a replacement kennel for CCAC. Storm’s mom reports he loves his crate, goes in and out of it freely during the day and sleeps in it with the door open at night. We couldn’t be happier. Happy life, Smoke.
