Let’s say it a little louder for the folks in the back. Dogs need heartworm prevention year round! Nowadays you can give your dog a monthly chew, or take them to a vet and get a shot that lasts all year. Whatever you decide, please do it! Have your dog tested yearly. Heartworm is highly preventible. It’s also treatable if caught early. If not treated, it’s fatal. Worms actually grow in their heart. SCAMP was glad to treat Nala’s heartworms, but it is expensive and not much fun for the dogs. So let’s prevent, prevent, prevent.
