Mercury’s spay-venture.
Mercury had a hard week but she did great!
Spay and neuter are routine surgeries that are low risk and critical to controlling the animal population. Mercury was in heat at the time of her spay, which is always a more difficult procedure. After her surgery Merc had more bleeding than typical, so she was taken to an emergency vet on a Saturday night to be sure she was OK. A pressure dressing was applied, her labs looked stable, and she rode the next few days under the watchful eye of a foster. All was well until a few days later and bam, her incision busted open! Back to the ER she went. She required an overnight stay and a repeat surgery to push everything back inside and sew her up. Poor girl. She has been recovering like a trooper! SCAMP was with her all the way to be sure Mercury got the top level of care this sweet girl needed.
